Controlled vocabulary for the processing stage of a natural fibre material in a supply chain. Defined and maintained by commons3.org for use in Berry Amendment provenance records.
This URI is used as the propertyID
value in a schema.org PropertyValue
entry within the additionalProperty
array of a provenance Product record.
Its purpose is to identify the concept — not a schema.org property name,
but an industry-specific stage classification that has no equivalent in schema.org.

HS chapter references are drawn from the WCO Harmonized System 2022 nomenclature
and the India HSN Codes 2025 guidebook (DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry,
September 2025). Eight-digit India-specific codes extend the 6-digit WCO standard.
cut_panels has no HS
equivalent — it is an internal manufacturing stage that does not cross a customs border
as a distinct tariff line.
Berry Amendment (10 U.S.C. § 2533a) requires that cotton and other
natural fibres in products procured by the US Department of Defense
originate in the United States at every stage of production.
materialStage
records which stage a given signed record represents,
enabling auditors to verify continuity of US origin through the full chain.
Records using this vocabulary are cryptographically signed on the Holochain distributed ledger and verifiable at commons3.org.
